I have a small Deere garden tractor LX188 that will not start. It cranks and has never had a problem starting before. I replaced the fuel filter and plugs to no avail. Is there a fuel pump on an LX188? It acts like its not getting any fuel. The Kubota forum just helped me fix my compact tractor. Hope someone here has some advice.

I had an LX188 do the same thing to me 2 years ago. Mine was a 1998 model. It cranked fine, had good spark, but wouldn't fire. What it turned out to be is the camshaft gear on this engine is plastic and is riveted to the camshaft. Well, the gear had broken off. When I took it to the dealer, they knew right away what it was and replaced it with a forged camshaft/gear combo. They even did it for no cost even though it was 3 years old already. They said all LX188's built with that plastic gear will have that happen to them at some point. I don't know when the change was made in the engine to the new camshaft. Hope this helps. ....
